Cathy Landis

Chief Executive Officer

Cathy has greater than 25 years of experience in leading patient services and cardiac programs across the southeastern U.S. Most of that experience has been serving at the executive leadership level in acute care. Previous to HealthSouth, she was employed by Mission Health as president and chief nursing officer at Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard, N.C. She has extensive experience at developing and enhancing clinical programs, quality improvement programs and care management programs. Cathy holds a bachelor of science in nursing from the Medical University of S. C. and a master’s degree in nursing administration from the University of South Carolina.

Dr Devin Troyer

Devin Troyer, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Troyer has been at HealthSouth Columbia since 1991 and has served as the hospital’s medical director since 1993. He has also served on the HealthSouth Physician Advisory Board since 1999. Dr. Troyer graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree and doctorate of medicine. He performed his internship in internal medicine and residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh. A native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Dr. Troyer is married and has four children.

Devin Troyer, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.

Melanie Banks

Melanie Banks

Director of Marketing Operations

Melanie came to HealthSouth with more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience in the healthcare industry. She is passionate about quality patient care and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. She worked with Rock Hill and Columbia HealthSouth Hospitals for a total of seven years as a rehabilitation liaison before being named director of marketing operations in May 2014. As director of marketing operations she leads a dynamic team of healthcare professionals responsible for business development, community outreach, patient education and marketing in the midlands area of South Carolina.

Janina Belgrave

Janina Belgrave

Director of Case Management

Janina is a licensed clinical social worker with 14 years of experience in numerous fields, including acute inpatient healthcare, acute and sub-acute rehabilitation, oncology, behavioral health and therapeutic foster care/adoption. Her passion for advocacy has afforded her the opportunity to work with a wide range of client populations in New York City, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, NC, and Columbia, SC. With nearly 10 years of experience in healthcare, Janina is a strong proponent of the interdisciplinary process as it relates to supporting and advocating for patients and their families. She earned a degree in psychology from the University of Maryland at College Park, and a master’s degree in social work from Hunter College [Silberman] School of Social Work in her native town of New York City.

Controller

Jessica brings more than six years of healthcare financial expertise to HealthSouth Columbia. A South Carolina native, she graduated from Limestone College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Luanne Burton

Luanne Burton

Director of Human Resources

Luanne is the director of human resources for HealthSouth Columbia and has more than 15 years of human resources experience in the healthcare field. A native of St. Augustine, Florida, Luanne graduated from Campbellsville College in Campbellsville, Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She and her husband have two daughters.

Jamie Manders

Jamie Manders

Director of Plant Operations

Jamie was promoted to director of plant operations in November 2006. His responsibilities include supervision of security, engineering, dietary, housekeeping, materials management and emergency response. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Jamie has been employed by HealthSouth since 1994. During his employment with HealthSouth, he earned an associate's degree in electronics engineering from Midlands Technical College in 2002.

Kathy Miller

Kathy Miller, RN, MSN, NEA-BC

Chief Nursing Officer

Kathy has more than 20 years of nursing leadership experience. She has been employed at hospitals in Georgia and South Carolina, serving as chief nursing officer at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, director of cardiovascular and respiratory services at University Health System in Augusta and has led the cardiovascular thoracic program at Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals in Columbia. She has experience in leading and developing nursing and clinical teams and holds a master’s degree in nursing administration from The Medical University of South Carolina.

Darryl Stewart

Darryl Stewart

Director of Quality and Patient Safety

Darryl Stewart comes to HealthSouth after working nearly 25 years for the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  He has also worked for the Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, North Carolina, as director of quality and patient safety from 2005 to 2008. While working at Cleveland Regional, Darryl helped the quality program achieve the Carolina Medical Center’s Quality Performer Award for 2007.  From 2008 to 2012, Darryl served as director of quality and risk for the newly opened Village Hospital in Greer, South Carolina. He holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the Medical University of South Carolina. His professional background includes experience as a respiratory therapist, an IT analyst and a quality professional. He is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (Quality) and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality.

Jason Villaflor

Jason Villaflor

Director of Therapy Operations

Dr. Villaflor brings 13 years of clinical and managerial experience to HealthSouth Columbia. He also serves as regional director of therapy operations for HealthSouth's MidAtlantic region and member of the national therapy leadership board. His background spans across all domains of the healthcare continuum including acute care, acute rehab, skilled nursing and home health and prides himself with a comprehensive vision of therapy and rehabilitation. He is an advocate for quality patient care, patient satisfaction, professional development of staff and compliance with regulatory standards. A New Jersey native, Dr. Villaflor received his doctorate in physical therapy from Simmons College and master’s in physical therapy from Northeastern University, both in Boston, Massachusetts. He is married and has two children.

Dr Daniel Westerkam

Daniel Westerkam, M.D.

Associate Medical Director

Dr. Westerkam is the associate medical director at HealthSouth Columbia focusing on the traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and amputation programs. He sits on the South Carolina Spinal Cord Injury Research Fund Board and is an adjunct assistant professor in the department of neurology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Westerkam graduated from Duke University and attended medical school at Emory. He did his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Westerkam is originally from Irmo, South Carolina.
